Sybase DataWindow Designer is a visual development tool from Sybase for creating and managing DataWindow objects—the data access and presentation components used by PowerBuilder and InfoMaker. It lets developers design tabular, free-form, grid, group, cross-tab, nested, label, and graph layouts with a drag-and-drop painter; define SQL queries or stored procedure calls; add computed fields and validation rules; and control sorting, filtering, and formatting. The tool automatically generates SQL for inserts, updates, and deletes, supports retrieval arguments, and provides options for update rules and transaction handling.
DataWindow Designer connects to a wide range of databases through native interfaces and ODBC, offers live preview and printing, and stores results in libraries for reuse across applications. It shortens development time, promotes consistency in data entry screens and reports, and reduces the need to hand-code data binding and persistence logic.
